Create your first product
Define an item you make so you can plan orders against it.
A product is anything your factory makes — a molded part, a machined component, an assembly. Orders are always created against a product, so this is the first thing to set up.
Role needed: organization admin or production engineer.
Steps
- In the sidebar, open Products.
- Click New product (top right).
- Fill in the basics:
- Name — what your team calls it (e.g. "Bottle Cap 28mm").
- Part number — your internal SKU or drawing number. This shows up on orders, labels, and traceability records, so use the number your team already knows.
- Unit — how you count it (pieces, kilograms, metres).
- (Optional) Add a bill of materials — the components or raw materials that go into one unit. You can skip this now and add it later.
- Click Save.
Your product now appears in the Products list and is selectable when you create an order.
A clear, consistent part number is the single most useful field — it's what ties an order, its output, and any quality records back to the same item across every screen and report.
